  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants this week Kathy D. Kerr with PuroClean of Broken Arrow

    08/09/2018

Tonight on City of Giants with Michael Patton we have Kathy D. Kerr with PuroClean of Broken Arrow Their company provides a wide variety of cleaning services including restoration after fire, water, mold, etc. Kathy did a good job speaking about the sterilization services that people coming home from hospitals want as well as promoting their biohazard and general services. I decided to defend germs and mold and questioned why she wanted to kill my friends. Dirty is a style and I resented her efforts to make my things sparkle. Songs this week include "Good Clean Fun" by the Allman Brothers and locals Hosty Duo singing "Dirty Girl". Listen tonight at 7 pm or this weekend each day at noon at www.radioidl.com

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants this week we have Carla Britton Gregory

    08/09/2018

Tonight on City of Giants we have Carla Britton Gregory, a friend who has is getting a following around town for her music.… plays guitar and sings about her life, but I know her from her cooking at the The Farm Shopping Center Saturday Farmers Market. There is nothing like a relationship built on eating sample foods in a parking lot (last weekend was Mutton meatballs). Carla sings originals so I tried to make her sad and write Blues. She did some songs in the studio, including one title "The Show" that she wrote after a singing a show at the Colony. We talked about motivation and how creativity comes to her. She is filled with energy and lights up a room. I was a little trouble. I said that if Woody Guthrie's guitar kills fascists, how would she use hers as a weapon. I did persist on what instrument I could play in her band (cowbell), and asked if she could write a tune with the words "Blurry Missouri." I did ask if she wrote propaganda songs for the government. It was fun. Listen tonight at 7 pm or this

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants this week Blake Smith with My CBDSolution

    25/05/2018

Tonight on City of Giants with Michael Patton we have this local company selling a pain cream. https://www.mycbdsolution.com/ Mention Radio IDL for a Discount also you can stop by the location at 68th and Memorial and a website that sells an ointment that is FDA approved and legal for pain relief. Blake Smith from their company came on even brought me a sample ( I haven't opened it yet. My pain is too deep for this). Blake did a good job selling it. He used words I didn't understand like "cannabidiol" and "non-psychoactive" and "Chiropractic". I said I was opposed, not because it was marijuana cream, but because it was 16% menthol and I was afraid I would crave a Virginia Slims cigarette. I also said that pain can be good and used the station format of Blues music as a perfect example. The show contains great music like "Good Medicine" by local Bluesman Pete Marriott, "Medicated Goo", by The Band of Heathens, and Blues legend from the 1960s Howlin Wolf sings "Spoonful of Cream". It was a fun show. Listen to

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants this week Sue Bundy from Tulsa International Mayfest

Tulsa International Mayfest starts today and we have special City of Giants with Michael Patton and guest Sue Bundy from Tulsa Mayfest. starting at 10am Sue is the KidZone Chairman and came on the show with me because I am not a grownup. Tulsa Mayfest starts today and you can probably find me there at lunch or dinner each day. http://tulsamayfest.org/ Kidzone is one of the best things about Mayfest. We probably have thousands of moms pushing strollers and twice as many kids doing crafts, games, painting, etc. every day. It is a major production made possible by a generous donation from St Francis Children's Hospital. Sue also gets hundreds of volunteers, many of them high school students needing hours. This year again they will make hats and masks, butterflies and bubbles, and everything from puppets to pumpkin seeds. Sue also makes sure kids have a pipe cleaner craft pallooza of fun. They paint sticks and stones, get excellent hands on instruction, and everybody takes home art. Sue throws the kid's party o

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants this week Rabbit Hole Improve

    12/05/2018

Join us tonight for City of Giants with Michael Patton we have Jason Watts with Rabbit Hole Improv Check it out tonight with Up To Speed starting at 8pm This new comedy theater is in midtown tucked away just east of the Reasor's at 15th and Lewis. They have shows most Fridays and Saturdays and do private corporate and other events. Jason did a good job promoting the cast, talked about how they engage the audience, and really represented live spontaneous theater as entertainment. I, of course, was trouble. I am obsessed with the overdressed white rabbit in the book Alice in Wonderland that they get their name from and demanded they have actual rabbits as props. I inquired whether too much laughter could be a medical condition. Poppa Nite found great songs including "Ain't no Fun When the Rabbit Gots the Gun" by Cash Box Kings, "Have you Seen my Puppet Show" by locals Hosty and Blue Combo with John Glazer and Rebecca Ungerman singing "One Monkey Don't Stop no Show". Listen tonight at 7 pm or this weekend eac

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants Junior League of Tulsa 050418

    04/05/2018

Tonight on the radio show we have Lindsey Chomiuk Bull and Meagan Tyler from the Junior League of Tulsa, Inc.talking about The Gem Gala this is a nice event May 12th. I was honored to help the Junior League of Tulsa promote their event because of the wonderful history of their organization and how much help they have provided for the Tulsa area. The Junior League is responsible for or dramatically improved so many things that have been close to my family and friends. Their work includes creating Mayfest, Leadership Tulsa, the Child Abuse Network, Oxley Nature Center, and DVIS. This event seems really fun and quite affordable for such a great opportunity to get dressed up and have a lawn party at the Historical Society. The proceeds go to the guest of honor, Taylor Hanson, to his charity, Food On The Move. Lindsey and Meagan were great. They thanked sponsors, the committee, and got me excited to eat some steak with crab meat on top. The silent and live auction items were very impressive (including a year of

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants with Penni Shelton talking about the Tulsa Farmers Market

    27/04/2018

Tonight on City of Giants with Michael Patton we have Penni Shelton talking about the Tulsa Farmers Market (also known as Cherry Street Farmers' Market ). Www.tulsafarmersmarkets.org. She praised the vendors, talked about the SNAP program that doubles the value for folks on public assistance, and how they are the choice for discriminating veggie eaters. I commented that of course the farmers like a market in the middle of a street (the ground is too hard to plow) and how can they claim the food is fresh when the market is the oldest in town. "Farmer John" by Joakim Tinderholt, "Root to the Fruit" by Nick Moss Band, John Lee Hooker singing "Dirty Groundhog" and "Another Day in Paradise" Scott Ellison are just some of the great blues for this show. It was a fun show. Listen tonight at 7pm or this weekend each day at noon at www.RadioIDL.com.

  • City of Giants with Mike Melega

Tonight on City of Giants we have Mike Melega GM with both the Tulsa Drillers Baseball team and the Tulsa Roughnecks FC soccer team. The soccer team has already started and the baseball home opener is next Thursday night. We had great conversations about how they installed a new retractable pitching mound to accommodate both sports on the same field and the differences between the two sports from the fan perspective. ONEOK Field

  • Michael Patton presents City of Giants special guest John Orsulak from the Tulsa Garden Center

    30/03/2018

Tonight on City Of Giants with Michael Patton we have John Orsulak, the event chair for 2018 SpringFest at Woodward Park. Tulsa Garden Center This is one of my favorite things to do in Tulsa in April and I always buy a new spring color shirt to wear. I believe it serves as the official beginning of spring and the park is always beautiful as well. John was great. He pimped the park and bus ride from All Souls Church on Saturday, worked in the volunteer Boy Scouts who help get your purchases to your car, and talked all about the vendors and volunteers. Here is a link of vendors...http://tulsagardencenter.com/events/springfest/ Of course, I asked stupid question. I wanted to know if the Rose Society and Iris Society fight like Crips and Bloods and why SpringFest has so much focus on pollinators when you can't eat them. John was wonderful to put up with my odd conversation about soiling myself and only wanting to buy cut flowers (cause they are already dead). Poppa Nite found great tunes like "Tend To My Garde

Tonight on City Of Giants with Michael Patton we have Cristen Burdell from The Mansion at Woodward Park. Tulsa Garden Center rents out the mansion and the park grounds and holds almost daily events ranging from monthly meetings for roses and iris, to classes on everything from cooking to photography. Cristen came on to promote the fundraising dinner on March 22nd called Garden Thyme with the Gardener Guy, Paul James Here is a link. Buy tickets now. Last year's event with Gt Bynum sold out quick. https://www.facebook.com/events/430650607366829/ We had odd conversations. I asked if the dozens of weddings and related sadness adversely hurt the gardens. When she mentioned they have added a wine refrigerator into the Bridal room, I suggested they add a pool table somewhere for the grooms. She raved about Linneaus Teaching garden and I was impressed that every plant has a name tag. I also loved her explanation of the rose beds being a academic research center. I was amazed at the variety of events. Here is their
